Hatfield
Rotary Club made a decision to concentrate on youth activities a few
years ago. These include:-
Technology Tournament
In conjunction with four other local Clubs we organise this event
which allows teams of four 11 to 18 year old pupils to evaluate a previously
unknown problem, plan and design solution, provide full documentation,
construct and test the solution all in one day. Winning schools are
provided with a shield and each team member a book token.

A confident 5 year
old reads her story to the club.
Christmas Story
Competition
Primary School Children are invited to write a short story on a Christmas
theme. Pam Rhodes of Songs of Praise has presented the awards for the
last two years.
"Kids Out"
Day
The Club send a group of children from a local school on a day out to
Whipsnade Zoo in conjunction with 53 other Clubs in the area.
School Assistance
Club members support Setpoint (formerly SATRO) initiatives in schools
in Science Week and in the Keep Secure competition. Other members assist with reading, technology and act as pupil mentors.
Youth Speaks Competition
Club members take an active part in organising this debating competition
which is open to senior school pupils over
a large area.
Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards
18 to 28 year olds are nominated and sponsored to attend an "Outward
Bound" type weekend
Cycling Proficiency
Tests
The Club provide shields for the two schools who win the local primary
school cycling proficiency tests
